The first decision for a towel radiator is the operating type: hydronic models connect to the boiler or central-heating loop and work with the radiator circuit, while electric models plug into a socket and can dry towels outside the heating season too. For bathrooms without central heating, or where summer use matters, electric is the practical choice. The second decision is size. Towel radiator dimensions are usually given as width x height in mm (e.g. 500x1200). Measure the usable wall area allowing for taps, sockets and cabinets; heating output is roughly proportional to surface area, so choose a taller model for a larger bathroom. Material and finish come third. Stainless steel resists corrosion best in damp rooms; chrome, satin, matt black, gold and antique copper finishes suit different bathroom styles. Aluminium radiators are light, conduct heat quickly and serve as a panel-radiator alternative in living spaces.
