Corian (DuPont)

DuPont's iconic acrylic solid surface brand; it outperforms its competitors with invisible joints, thermoforming flexibility and on-site repairability.

Invented by DuPont in 1967, Corian is made of 33% acrylic polymer and 67% natural mineral filler. Its heat-formable (thermoform) structure makes it possible to produce curved edges, integrated washbasins and seamless surfaces. Because the colour runs through the entire mass, a scratched surface can be sanded back to its original appearance. With more than 88 colour options and 3 surface textures (gloss, matte, satin), it offers a wide aesthetic choice. Beyond kitchens, it is widely used in the healthcare, education and commercial furniture sectors.

Advantages

  • Fully seamless joining — joints are invisible
  • Thermoforming — curves, bends and integrated washbasin designs
  • Scratches can be repaired on site by sanding
  • Colour runs through the entire mass — it does not change even if the surface wears
  • 88+ colours and various surface textures (Solid/Speckled/Grained/Veined)

Care and limitations

  • Risk of marks and deformation on direct high heat contact
  • Hard, sharp impacts can scratch it (though it is easily repaired)
